OTSE makes the concerns of murder victims' family members a top priority. One way we're working to highlight the struggles and concerns of Ohio families is through a sign-on letter calling for adequate services for families facing the traumatic loss of a loved one.
OTSE echoes the voices of murder victims' family members and believes that precious resources would better serve family members by prioritizing communuty policing programs and equiping law enforcement agencies with the tools they need to keep communities safe. Resources spent on the death penalty would be more beneficial to crime victims if investigators and prosecutors prioritized solving the thousands of unsolved homicides in Ohio rather than spending countless millions on a fraction of criminal cases.
If you would like to sign-on to this effort to put the needs of murder victims' families first, contact Kevin Werner at 614-560-0654.
Ohio faith leaders play an integral part in the work to abolish Ohio's death penalty. Faith denominations have clear and consistent opposition to the death penalty. One way to help lend your support is by joining the religious leader sign-on campaign. Collectively, Ohio faith leaders can help send a strong message to state leaders that the moral and ethical problems the capital punishment system represents are unacceptable. Members of Ohio law enforcement communites recognize that the death penalty is not a priority to keep Ohio communities safe. The death penalty drains needed resources from agencies at the county and local level. Join other law enforcement leaders in calling for an end to the death penalty and for better allocation of precious resources that address community needs and safety.
